Elizabeth (Betsy). Twenty-two, almost twenty-three, but perpetually seventeen. Whirls back & forth between vulgarity & delicacies like a dervish proper & has been known to disappear for months on end. Worshipper of Carroll, devotee of Lovecraft & BPAL hoarder absolute. Destined for the madhouse.

Date: 2009-06-16 04:16 pm (UTC)My first "giddy aunt" experience was with The Two Doctors - my very first complete serial featuring Two and Jamie, in fact, as it happened some 6 or 7 years ago when Six's run was playing on BBC Prime (having discovered the show through that channel while they were halfway through Five's run).
& incidentally, my Two adoration came about because I loved Three so much - Three's one of my top three (no pun intended! :P) Doctors, with Eight being at the top because he's my Doctor. Two would be second, I think. (& nope, still no pun. ::laughs::)
Heheh, no pun indeed. :D
Two is indeed my Doctor, followed by Three and Seven (with Jamie as my companion, followed by Ace and Donna); Five was my first Doctor, but he lost the top billing to those three. Well, and Six, who rates #4 in my top because I think he's smashing in spite of all the hate the fandom has for him - but Fivey is still in the top 5 as... #5! Look, I can use the "no pun intended" line too. :P
he seems to come off so easily compared to the Doctor when the Time Lords get involved.
There's something in both The Deadly Assassin and Trial of a Time Lord that bugs me particularly about the way Time Lords treat the Master - in both occasions, the Doctor is seen as a renegade who deserves nothing but contempt and punishment for his interference (never mind the fact that he had already received his pardon), and when the Master steps in halfway through the story they clearly have no idea who he is in spite of all the damage he has caused throughout the universe. In Trial the Master seems to be rolling his eyes at this, a sentiment I share.
And in Terror of the Autons, the Time Lords learn that the Master is heading to Earth to destroy the Doctor, and what do they do? They warn the Doctor. *rolls eyes* Since they know the time and place in which the Master is to land, why don't they capture the bugger and put him on trial, like they did to the Doctor when they finally located him in The War Games? Time Lord mentality makes no sense - no wonder the Doctor got fed up and left with his granddaughter after a few centuries living with the buggers.
Oh, dear, now I've been ranting. I do apologize.
Um, anyway, this is it & if you HAVE read it, I'm sorry to have spammed at you!
Ooh! No, I hadn't read it yet - and wow, it has some points in common with the beginning of Jamie, my first Fourteenth Doctor fic.
But NOT UNTIL I FINISH THE REWATCH-ATHON! THEN, I shall read them.
Yes, I think it's better if you finish the rewatch-a-thon first, because of all the references I put into it. The Two Doctors especially, since I quote it a lot, as I believe that, if Jamie's subconscious was to make him relive truncated parts of his lost memories, that one would be the one more likely to feature in his nightmares. Well, it also mentions Peri's fate in Trial of a Time Lord, I'm afraid, so I hope you won't mind being spoiled for that one. :/
& maybe try & make a Two/Jamie fanmix because I have NEVER seen one, ANYWHERE. What is UP with that?
Ooh, please do! I was considering making one myself, but for some reason my mind switches from Two/Jamie to Fourteen/Jamie every time I think about it. It makes sense, considering my current writing project, but it's nevertheless frustrating.
