[riverdresses] finds that maybe very little, at least to her slightly cosseted eyes, is as lovely as her seven-mile candyfloss sky world is at post-rain . . . autumnal sunset. It's a night for hot tea, a viewing of Withnail & I, & writing. A double-looped scarf & jumper set for her mind. what makes up YOUR mind's double-looped scarf & jumper sets? She's curious!
I wrote that through the late afternoon to the early evening on my Twitter & realised that it would be a lovely thing to include in the third issue of my zine, riverdresses.

Basically, I want to know, as I said, what comforts you on cold days?

What makes up your happiest moments?

If you could, what would be the ideal things for your ideal autumnal/springy/summery/wintry days & nights?

In the darkest nights, on the coldest, stormiest days, what makes up the ideal scarf & jumper (sweater, for you non-Brits reading this!) set for your mind?

I would adore as many submissions as I could get - submit more than once if you like! - & if I get quite a few, I'll move this idea into the fourth issue of riverdresses, or make it a regular feature, possibly. Just leave me your preferred moniker/nom de plume/name so I can add it in properly!

Also, feel free to spread this around to anyone else you think would like to add something! The more, the merrier! (& I confess, I'm just dying to know some of your responses! I'll be sharing my own as well, so don't think I'll just be sitting & watching you all!)

xoxo
Betsy

(p.s. you totally don't have to answer all of them like that - have fun & be creative, darlings!)

The things that comfort me on cold days--
the smell of fireplaces and fir trees;
red leaves on the concrete;
a blue tinge to the world while windows glow gold;
hot tea and cocoa;
beloved movies;
and warm blankets.

I will come back for the rest when I'm not so tired ♥

Being, as I am, from a country known for its long wintertime, Norway, I'm definitely familiar with the concept of cold days, hee.

Lit tealights, hot drinks, family and friends are all pretty much vital to getting through the 6 or-so months of darkness here up north. Norwegian winters are long, and the sun pretty much disappears for several months, with only a few sparse hours of cold daylight. Personally I love this time of year, because after braving the cold, I get to go home and cuddle up inside with blankets and coffee and a good movie.

My favorite purple/black striped scarf if a necessity these days, it's long and warm and comfy. :D Couldn't be without it!

Things that comfort me on cold days: tea (Chocolate Caramel Enchantment is a must), hot cocoa, cuddling up with a good book, hot water bottles, my cat insisting on napping on my feet. Watching a M*A*S*H episode in which the characters are enduring unbearable heat for some reason also seems to do the trick for me (go figure).

Is your zine online? can I read it?

what comforts you on cold days?
Tea. I recently discovered this pagen shop that sells loose leaf herbs and spices. I enjoy making my own blends of tea.

What makes up your happiest moments?
Really good tv. really good tv with friends. or friends.

If you could, what would be the ideal things for your ideal autumnal/springy/summery/wintry days & nights?
Autumn- a good tv show, tea and a blanket
Spring- a cute dress, sweet desserts or berries and friends
Summer- fireworks (no summer is complete without them), a beach, vegan marshmallows to roast, walking in a forest at dusk
Winter- the heater, sweat pants, instant messenger, pasta, eggnog and nutmeg
(just curious, do you get the four seasons where you live?)

In the darkest nights, on the coldest, stormiest days, what makes up the ideal scarf & Sweater set for your mind?
a have a rainbow scarf (like Rose's from boom town) that I love. I also have a thick light brown one that goes with almost everything.
Where I live we wear sweatshirts or peacoats. (sweaters are too thin) I have a black peacoat that I always wear during the winter.

What comforts me on a cold day? Hmm, a cup of cocoa, a roaring fire, a comfy blanket & friends and/or family. Oh, and a book or notebook.

My happiest moments are when I am with other people & everything is just...wonderful. We sit & we talk & we smile & even when there is silence, if I am perfectly content, at peace & comfortable...I am happy.

Autumn is my favourite season. Back home, the trees line both sides of the streets, tall & majestic & stunning Crayola colours of red & orange & yellow. When you look down the road, all you see are those trees, still full of their marvelous leaves & all you feel is the perfect fall temperature, crisp & brisk & carrying the scent of...indescribable Autumn in the North Country. Just sitting outside, in a sweater & boots, with a mug of warm apple cider....that is my ideal Autumn day.
