OKAY.

So, we all know that the new series gets plenty of attention, both good & bad & it always has, yes? Especially now, with a new Doctor on the way. This, of course, is to be expected, naturally.

But with a year of specials, then a particularly favourite regeneration leaving us at the end of said specials . . . what do we do while we wait or chew our nails in three types of nervousness?

I say we look back just a little bit, to the original series & the original eight Doctors during this time! That we don't forget the first serials & first Doctors that made our fandom truly frakking awesome & made it so enduring - I mean, we did just celebrate our forty-fifth anniversary last November!

FORTY-FIVE YEARS, PEOPLE. That's a hell of a long time for people to fall in love with this show, no matter when you started watching it.

So let's spread the Classic!love around! The original series tends to get so easily overshadowed by the new one & it can be so hard to find like-minded friends to gab over Classic!Who with you.

How were you introduced to Classic!Who? When I started watching New!Who back in August of '07, I looked it up on Wikipedia just to get a general feel for the show. When I found out that there were other Doctors, I knew I had to watch it one day.
Who was your first Classic!Doctor? One, technically. Back when I thought I was going to watch everything in order. Yeah, that lasted all of ten minutes. Then I just went, "Whatever, I'm going to the guy with the scarf now." After going back to One, I feel kind of guilty for abandoning him, because I do love him now.
Have you listened to any of the audios? I haven't, although I really do mean to eventually. I just keep forgetting, and my bad internet connection is unreliable when I try to download them!
If so, do you have a particular favourite audio or an audio rec?
Which Classic!Doctor, if you had to give it some thought, would be YOUR Doctor? It would have to be Four, because he's who I considered my first Doctor, and I love him dearly.
Which Classic!Doctor, if not already your Doctor, would you call your favourite? But I like them all D: Forreal, I love them all in different ways, and when I'm watching one of them, I sort of forget about the rest! If I had to choose, it would be Four. Or Five. Or Three.
Favourite characters? I'm not counting companions in this, because they have their own section I see! Anyways, THE BRIG THE BRIG THE BRIG (Yeah, he could be a companion but either way I love him lots), Mike Yates, all of UNIT actually, Nyder from Genesis of the Daleks, and Chang Li. I'm sure there's more, but I'm horrible with lists.
Favourite enemies? I am a huge, unashamed Davros fangirl. It's almost embarassing how much I love Davros. It's all about Michael Wisher for me, man. Oh, and the Zygons!
Favourite Classic/Audio Companion(s)? Sarah Jane, Romana I, Ace, Zoe, and Leela.
Favourite Team TARDIS? Four, Sarah, and Harry! Nothing will overtake season 12 for me.
Favourite serial(s)? Genesis of the Daleks is my ultimate favorite, but I love Pyramids of Mars and The Five Doctors way too much as well. And I love the movie, in all it's cheesiness.
Ships and or OTPs? ...now that I think about it, I pretty much ship every doctor with every companion, and every companion with every other companion. I am easy to please. That being said, my favorite is Four/Sarah Jane.

Closing thoughts? I love New!Who and Classic!Who, but at the moment I'm more into Classic, for various reasons. I love the fact that this is a show that no matter where I look, there is always a new (new for me, at least) audio, book, or episode to listen to/read/watch. I never get bored. Sure, there are some things I don't like, but after that it's just on to the next. My goal is to see most, if not all, of Classic!Who during this gap year. I am so not even close right now, haha.

How were you introduced to Classic!Who? After I saw Sarah in School Reunion, I decided to see her when she was an official companion. So I started with Four's era & it all went from there.
Who was your first Classic!Doctor? Four of course!
Have you listened to any of the audios? YES INDEED! I'm going through all of the Eighth Doctor audios & the Companion Chronicles series & the spin-offs.
If so, do you have a particular favourite audio or an audio rec? Seasons of Fear. Wildthyme At Large. The Neverland/Zagreus/Scherzo arc.
Which Classic!Doctor, if you had to give it some thought, would be YOUR Doctor? I don't even need to think - I've got two! Four would be my first & Eight my second. LOVE!
Which Classic!Doctor, if not already your Doctor, would you call your favourite? Two. His stories are some of my favourites.
Favourite characters? THE BRIGADIER & pretty much ALL of UNIT.
Favourite enemies? DAVROS. After the Master (except Roberts!Master - HELL NO), he's totally my favourite, even though I'm not fond of what they've done with him in the new series. I also heart Salamander (o come ON, you know Patrick Troughton was totally hot kickass when he played it evil!) & Zagreus.

How were you introduced to Classic!Who? Netflix :3 It's really a marvel of modern technology.
Who was your first Classic!Doctor? First one I ever watched was the 3rd, but that was only one episode arch (so about four episodes). I also watched a few from the 2nd, 5th and 7th, but I then got caught up watching the 4ths episodes and so I really haven't seen much of the others yet since.
Have you listened to any of the audios? No, unfortunately! Because I really, really want to! I love audio dramas.
Which Classic!Doctor, if you had to give it some thought, would be YOUR Doctor? Well, I'm biased at the moment, having seen more of one than all the others. But so far I'd say the Fourth would be my Classic!Who Doctor, just because he's the one I've liked best so far. Maybe my opinion will change when I give the others more time, but I'm not quite sure it will.

Favourite characters? I rather love Leela, Sarah Jane, and Romana, though I have a soft spot for Susan because she was absolutely adorable. Also love Harry and the Brig.

How were you introduced to Classic!Who? My Spousal Unit is an Old Skool fanboy, so he got me watching the New Series and showed me a few Classic serials as well. I really got into the old stuff, though, shortly after the end of S3, when I realised that I HAD to go back and see all the Doctor and the Master's past interactions (and was thrilled to find that it was JUST AS SLASHY as I'd been hoping.)
Who was your first Classic!Doctor? Genesis of the Daleks, with Four, was my first Classic serial.
Have you listened to any of the audios? A few, but I'm still working my way through the TV episodes, first!
Which Classic!Doctor, if you had to give it some thought, would be YOUR Doctor? Three, I'm thinking, since I've been watching and re-watching so many Three serials recently.
Which Classic!Doctor, if not already your Doctor, would you call your favourite? TWO. Really, Two >>>>>>>> Everyone. This is just how it is. I have quite a lot of love for Five, as well.
Favourite characters? BENTON. And also the Brig, of course. I love UNIT quite a lot, in general, if we're not counting them as companions.
Favourite enemies? THE MASTER. Of course.
Favourite Classic/Audio Companion(s)? JAMIE. Zoe! Jo! Barbara! Liz! Sarah Jane! Harry! Leela! Romana! Turlough! I could keep going, really.
Favourite Team TARDIS? Three/Jo/Delgado!Master Oh, wait, that one only happened in my head. Two/Jamie/Zoe, then. Oh! Oh! And Shalka!Doctor/Master/Alison, even if we never got to actually see it.
Favourite serial(s)? Mind of Evil, Sea Devils, THE TIME MONSTER, The Invasion, The War Games, The Aztecs, pretty much all of Season 16, City of Death, Logopolis/Castrovalva, etc. etc.
Ships/OTPs? Doctor/Master is my OTP, as you may have been able to tell, with a particular fondness for Three/Delgado!Master. But I'm totally a multishipper, even if I have special love for Two/Jamie, Four/Romana, and Five/Turlough.
Rec us some awesome Classic!fanworks! bagheera_san's Living Things (Shalka!Doctor/Master). Read pretty much everything of hers, really, if you like Doctor/Master.

Closing thoughts? Even though I've finally seen enough to really start to feel more like a Classic Who fangirl than a New Who fangirl these days, there is still SO MUCH I have yet to see/hear/read. And I love that I've still got so much to look forward to discovering.

I went to my first Dr. Who convention (The Chicago one.) when I was 10. I almost ran headfirst into Jon Pertwee. My mom was squeeing and I was like, "Hey, that was the Doctor!" Sophie Aldred was there. She was my hero back then. I think Doctor Who has become a sort of...comfort programme for me. I watch it when I'm sad and such and it reminds me of being young and not having any worries. I'm soooo glad they've started releasing them on DVDs. The tapes I had were just about dead.
