riverdresses: (5-D • not a place that Polly hasn't been)
Okay! To celebrate my finishing the original run of Troughton-era serials, it's time to throw the first of two parties!

This party, more or less, is dedicated entirely to the ladies of the Troughton era - the three gorgeous, kickass, feisty & brave companions that stepped into the TARDIS between 1966 & 1969 - Polly Wright, Victoria Waterfield & Zoe Heriot. Each of them brought something special to their Doctors, to their other companions & of course, to all of us that love & adore them.

& this is also partly, my way of saying 'screw you!' to everyone who thinks all original series companions were just whiny, helpless little girls who always needed to be saved by the Doctor or their other companions. BULLSHIT. Watch a few recons & serials & you'll find out just how wrong that conception is.

My first offering - a fanmix, just for the three of them! While the proper picspam is here, my mix is housed over at my personal community [livejournal.com profile] teasplash. Clicking the fake cut will take you right to it!

(One's a slayer of Cybermen. One kills mutant seaweed with her voice. One blows up computers by talking to them. Together, they fight crime as Troughton's Angels!)

& now to the picspam of our lovely Angels! Loads & loads of Polly, Victoria & Zoe behind each cut, with liberal dashes of Anneke Wills, Deborah Watling & of course, the darling Wendy Padbury at the very end. I do hope you enjoy it & if you've got caps, or anything you feel like sharing, share away! This is a party, after all!

*some of you may be wondering about the name of this picspam - it was inspired by an icon I saw of Three, Liz, Jo & Sarah Jane with the text 'Pertwee's Angels' on it. I LOVE that icon & I thought that it actually fitted for Two's companions - he too had three lovely girls for companions, who were just as brave, after all! & it's also a bit of an in-joke between myself & [livejournal.com profile] nentari - any gal from Two's era, that should have been made a companion is an honorary Angel! & there are at least four that should have been, but sadly, they aren't included here. Maybe one day I'll give them their own picspam.

(& yes, I will be making a mix for the ladies of Three's era - there might not be a picspam for them, but there will be a mix for them! I'm already working on it, actually!)

SO. NOT. DIAL-UP. FRIENDLY.

Starting at the beginning, we have the most glamorous Cyberman slayer in seven galaxies - my personal style icon & fashion inspiration, Polly Wright!

Well, listen to our little dolly rocker Duchess! )

Next up, we have the glamorous, exceptionally brave, & quite fierce miss Victoria Waterfield!

Don't you think it's a bit short? )

& our last part brings us to our third & final Angel - Zoe Heriot, the logician with the mind of a computer who likes to wear miniskirts & sparkly catsuits!

I will not be beaten by this brainless tin box! )

& as promised, a rather liberal dashing of Anneke, Debbie & Wendy, right behind this cut! Loads of glamour from our girls!

she's a model & she's looking good )

(caps & snaps all snagged from The Tragical History Tour & some from my own collection. The caps of Anneke in The Saint were done by [livejournal.com profile] nentari.)

Phew! Now that was an epic picspam & possibly more epic than my Jamie one! But it sure was fun & I'm glad to finally have it up! Worth the sadness of The War Games, possibly.

Okay, before we delve into this week's recaps, I thought I'd show the interested portion of my flist this fabulous shirt that the awesome [livejournal.com profile] wordsindreams showed me.

THERE ARE PRACTICALLY NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW DAMN BAD I THINK I WANT THAT SHIRT. I mean, even Sara Kingdom gets a mention! ::bounces:: IT'S AWESOME!

So this week's serial set . . . it's kind of series of endings & beginnings. We have Victoria's final serial (which I cried a bit during), Zoe's first adventure with Two & Jamie, & her post-War Games Companion Chronicle. This week was a bit depressing like that, but next week, it'll be much better, promise!

So, without further ado, let's begin with Fury From the Deep - the last serial for the lady Victoria Waterfield.

Fury From the Deep - audio )

Now, as we're about to enter into Zoe's era of Two's travels, I think it's as good a time to mention that when I get to The War Games, it will have its own separate post - it's ten serials long & I will not jam it all into a post with two other serials. It's a significant enough story to merit its own post & that's what I'll do with it.

Afterwards, I'll be recapping the two 'bonus' stories for the rewatch-athon - Spearhead in Space, which will bridge the gap between the end of Two's era & the beginning of Three's, & The Curse of Peladon, which had Patrick's son David as one of the main characters. Then we'll be back to the main stories for the rest of the rewatch-athon with The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors, The Two Doctors, Jamie's own Companion Chronicle Helicon Prime & the new series episode Midnight, which featured David Troughton as one of the leads!

(note: if I've worked out the serial order correctly, we'll have all three Pertwee-era stories done in a week.)

The Wheel in Space - audio & serial )

& our final story for the week, Zoe Heriot's own Companion Chronicle, Fear of the Daleks.

Fear of the Daleks  )

::fireworks pop off:: Those are our serial recaps for the week! Next week I'll be covering The Dominators, The Mind Robber (which was my first Two-era serial ever, so that'll be a fun exercise in nostalgia for me!) & my second favourite serial of the Troughton era, The Invasion. Plus, I'll be getting back to watching things, as opposed to listening to them again! Which is, of course, the most fun in doing a rewatch-athon. ::beams::

I think this is the damn hardest I've worked on my recaps in . . . well, maybe it's the first time! I recapped The Ice Warriors Wednesday, started The Enemy of the World yesterday morning & spent the evening recapping it & The Web of Fear. I am about to fall the hell over from exhaustion (I also went to the laundry today & learnt that my basket is much heavier to carry than I thought it was!) & I think I even fell asleep during part of The Web of Fear. ::bashes head on things::

The Ice Warriors - audio )

Now, we're getting to what is one of my absolute favourite serials of the Two era - The Enemy of the World. Sadly, only one episode of it survived, which I get to include in my recap along with the audio! I'm quite happy to be recapping this one; I've waited ages to get to it!

(& it'll help ease the pain when I get to Fury From the Deep. I hope.)

The Enemy of the World - audio & serial )

& now, attempting to come down from the MASSIVE happy freakout behind the last cut, we come to our final serial of the week, The Web of Fear.

The Web of Fear - audio & serial )

& that's this week's round-up for the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! Next week I'll be recapping Fury From the Deep (Victoria's final serial. ::sob::) The Wheel in Space (Zoe's first!) & Zoe's own Companion Chronicle Fear of the Daleks.

The Abominable Snowmen - audio & serial
riverdresses: (5-D • the warrior & the maiden)
So, after the unexpected gap in serial recaps last week, I've returned with the next instalment of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! This week the recaps are for Tomb of the Cybermen, The Great Space Elevator (Victoria's Companion Chronicle) & The Abominable Snowmen, the last of which might be a bit messy because I was beyond exhausted when I listened to it - actually inching more toward dead, if you want specifics.

Tomb of the Cybermen )

When I was deciding how I would do the rewatch-athon overall, I decided, since not a lot of Two's stories survived, to include the Companion Chronicles for Jamie, Zoe & Victoria. (I don't have Polly's, or I would have added that as well - POLLY!) So this is Victoria's, The Great Space Elevator.

& as a fun sidebar, Jamie's is right after Victoria's in my iTunes, & is only twenty-nine seconds longer than hers is, leaving us with a just about even running time for both at 1:19, with twenty-nine extra seconds for Jamie.

The Great Space Elevator )

& our final serial for the week - The Abominable Snowmen! Only one part of it survives, but what doesn't, I have the audio for, luckily!

The Abominable Snowmen - audio & serial )

& that's this week's instalment of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! Next week I'll be recapping the audios of The Ice Warriors, watching the third serial of, as well as listening to the audio of The Enemy of the World (YES YES YES! ::squeals like the silly bunny she is::) & The Web of Fear, which will also include one serial.

FUCKING SEMAGIC.

I've been attempting to post a proper entry for two days now & the fucker keeps crashing & refusing to load the draft afterward. So, here. Heartpoints.

♥ Went to the pool with British!Auntie yesterday, but didn't actually go to the pool. Stayed by the creek near the pool instead & went exploring in one of my riverdresses & flipflops. Also listened to music, read DWM & worked on my Jamie/Victoria fic. Took lots of pictures, shall have to post them if River ever works well enough to hold all of them & for her Photoshop to open properly again.

♥ Am also incredibly sorry for not being around like, at all lately; summer makes one dull, I find. In more ways than one. But I'll try to be around more.

♥ Have been thinking about perhaps returning to school, after five years. I'm a bit uncomfortable with the idea & sigh, haven't really come to a choice yet & I need to, as the deadline to register for next year is fast approaching. & no, I have no idea how I'd pay for it, or how I'd handle being around people again. People scare me. Hence why I like to be alone.

I hate having to make choices like this. I really do.

♥ Fixed River's T key at the library recently, found that the library has good wi-fi. Am a pleased thing.

♥ Fannishly, I'm plugging on with the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon. Am, however, missing two serials, which could be a bit of a problem, alas. Will figure out what to do about that when I get there. Am, however, wanting to go watch Tomb of the Cybermen right now. It is love. Lots & lots of love.

I also need to see about the Iris Widthyme ficathon I SO COMPLETELY WANT TO DO. But I fail at organising things usually. Wibble. BUT WE NEED MORE IRIS FIC!

& I found that the barbarian has a clown doll that looks almost exactly like the Sixth Doctor, but with a lacy collar. I am not even kidding. & I'm scared of clowns. But that doll is sitting in my room anyway now because it looks like Six & amuses me. Pictures will come.

Also, have decided that at some point in my life, I should see part of the original version of The Omen. I had a snap to illustrate why, but I can't find it because my thumbnails don't show up anymore on things, which isn't good because I was going to show said snap to [livejournal.com profile] nentari & it also may have amused [livejournal.com profile] voorishsign, I think.

Um, anyway, even though I run screaming from most horror films, I would watch part of this. Why?

O, no real reason.

Just Patrick Troughton being in it, wearing a priest outfit & being a considerably attractive slightly creepy priest, if I remember things right. Priest outfit! Come ON, that's the whole point of anyone seeing it! ::gigglesnorts:: Though I don't like that he gets killed in such an . . . interesting manner. That makes me a sad bunny. but this can be fixed.

Okay, that was the main point of my post, but shorter now! Which may be a good thing. Um, carry on. ::dances off::
