riverdresses: (5-D • memories lost by time)
Well, everyone, here we are in the final official original three serials of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! Next week will be entirely devoted to the final serial of Two, Jamie & Zoe's - The War Games. I'll have it up on early Saturday morning, as usual, but I'll hopefully watching two serials a day, recapping each one in its own separate segment. (it's a ten-episode serial & it . . . it's not very pleasant. I mean, it has its moments, but if you know anything about Two's era, you'll know why I'm so uncomfortable with it.) After that, the rewatch-athon will be in its final stages, which will look something like this:

Next week: The War Games, picspam & mix postings.

Week after: Spearhead From Space, The Curse of Peladon & The Three Doctors. (the first two are sort of bonus stories; the first bridging the gap between Two & Three's eras, the second one starring Patrick's son David as King Peladon. & of course, The Three Doctors needs no explanation!)

Week after: The Five Doctors, The Two Doctors & Jamie's Companion Chronicle Helicon Prime.

Final week: Midnight & wrap-up party.

Note: I know most of you know that I've broken almost all ties with the new series (until Eleven arrives, anyway), but I'm including Midnight because it features David Troughton as one of the main characters - by including it, I'm coming full circle, as I see it. It's like this: if it hadn't been for the new series, I never would have came to the classic series & never would have found a) half of you lot & b) so many of my favourite serials & my three favourite Doctors. So, while I'd rather not sit through Midnight again, for David Troughton, I shall do it with pleasure.

I'll reiterate most of this next week with my recap of The War Games, but due to the nature of that story . . . coherence will be a bit of a fluke, if I can even pull it off by the end.

Anyway, that is next week, & it will all come in time, won't it? For now, we've three fabulous serials for this week, beginning with The Krotons, which was the second serial I ripped into after I watched The Dominators when I got them.

Also, interestingly enough, this serial combines everything I've been doing in the rewatch - serials, audios & .avi! If I had a recon we'd be all fitted out, wouldn't we? ::laughs::

The Krotons )

Now we're coming to a serial that I acquired especially for the rewatch-athon back when I was setting it all up - & couldn't believe I'd found it when I did! I've had it for a while now & this is the first time I've seen it! So my recap may be rather scattered, since I'll have so much to take in & to see & enjoy for the first time, but I'll try & be coherent still. But [livejournal.com profile] nentari's told me many lovely things about this story, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it & recapping it! I apologise for my scatterbrained ramblings in advance, folks!

The Seeds of Death )

& now, our final serial for the week, which combines the old favourite mixup of listening to the audio of, then watching the serial of The Space Pirates.

The Space Pirates - audio & serial )

& that was the last three major serials of this part of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! I'll be back next week with The War Games.

Wish me luck?

Okay, before we delve into this week's recaps, I thought I'd show the interested portion of my flist this fabulous shirt that the awesome [livejournal.com profile] wordsindreams showed me.

THERE ARE PRACTICALLY NO WORDS TO DESCRIBE HOW DAMN BAD I THINK I WANT THAT SHIRT. I mean, even Sara Kingdom gets a mention! ::bounces:: IT'S AWESOME!

So this week's serial set . . . it's kind of series of endings & beginnings. We have Victoria's final serial (which I cried a bit during), Zoe's first adventure with Two & Jamie, & her post-War Games Companion Chronicle. This week was a bit depressing like that, but next week, it'll be much better, promise!

So, without further ado, let's begin with Fury From the Deep - the last serial for the lady Victoria Waterfield.

Fury From the Deep - audio )

Now, as we're about to enter into Zoe's era of Two's travels, I think it's as good a time to mention that when I get to The War Games, it will have its own separate post - it's ten serials long & I will not jam it all into a post with two other serials. It's a significant enough story to merit its own post & that's what I'll do with it.

Afterwards, I'll be recapping the two 'bonus' stories for the rewatch-athon - Spearhead in Space, which will bridge the gap between the end of Two's era & the beginning of Three's, & The Curse of Peladon, which had Patrick's son David as one of the main characters. Then we'll be back to the main stories for the rest of the rewatch-athon with The Three Doctors, The Five Doctors, The Two Doctors, Jamie's own Companion Chronicle Helicon Prime & the new series episode Midnight, which featured David Troughton as one of the leads!

(note: if I've worked out the serial order correctly, we'll have all three Pertwee-era stories done in a week.)

The Wheel in Space - audio & serial )

& our final story for the week, Zoe Heriot's own Companion Chronicle, Fear of the Daleks.

Fear of the Daleks  )

::fireworks pop off:: Those are our serial recaps for the week! Next week I'll be covering The Dominators, The Mind Robber (which was my first Two-era serial ever, so that'll be a fun exercise in nostalgia for me!) & my second favourite serial of the Troughton era, The Invasion. Plus, I'll be getting back to watching things, as opposed to listening to them again! Which is, of course, the most fun in doing a rewatch-athon. ::beams::

Today's post shall consist of the following things: smut, Doctor Who, smut, Doctor Who, dreams, the hot girls of Torchwood, a bit of Horatio Hornblower, wi-fi frustrations, memes, & Sunday Aeryn's adventures in life on falling asleep at four, then waking up at eight-thirty! (A.K.A known as the post of the massive LJ-cuts.)

So, dreams first, y/n/bunneh?

this is called my subconscious is a strange place to be. )

Okay, now the rest of the post.

smut, Eight/Charley, plotbunnies & Violet Blue. )

I'm thinking of making a moodtheme of the girls of (twenty-first century) Torchwood. I was going to just do a Gwen moodtheme, because I like Gwen, but I think a moodtheme of all the Torchwood gals would be even more fun! They're all win - Suzie, Tosh, Gwen & Martha. (yup, I'm counting Martha as a Torchwood girl - I wish she could be a full-time member!)

Also, I'm halfway through Lieutenant Hornblower. MY GOD, THE SUBTEXT. GETS THICKER EVERY PAGE. I need to get another two books. SOON. (I'd quote you a bit, but then you'd have two paragraphs worth of quotes & I haven't even FINISHED this instalment.

Mmmph. I WANT MORE.

& lastly, my wi-fi connection has been rather poor these past two days. NOT FUN, OKAY. & Firefox no longer opens up for me, for some reason. I assume it's related to River's total lack of space & I hope it is.

& because I love the five things meme, I played it with [livejournal.com profile] bornbackwards & [livejournal.com profile] nevacaruso!

[livejournal.com profile] bornbackwards gave me )

& [livejournal.com profile] nevacaruso gave me )

& GODDAMMIT, I NOW HAVE A BORDERS COUPON FOR FORTY PERCENT OFF ANY BOOK THIS WEEKEND. They WANT to ruin me, I swear. Horatio Hornblower, here I come!

My dreams? Are so incredibly cracked out & occasionally, completely fucked up.

♥♥ I KNOW I had a dream wherein River Tam was sitting in some cold, white-metal-walled room with Martha Jones. & River was just sitting there & said something along the lines of, "Isn't it strange?" & Martha asked her what she was talking about & River said "how gravity fails us." Or maybe she was looking into Ten's mind & Martha wasn't there at all, or vice versa.

♥♥ That wasn't the last dream I had that had Martha in it last night. I was walking home from my old middle school & this woman was walking in front of me & was talking about how she knew Rose. I began walking next to her, hoping I could talk to her as Rose's friend & she began talking about using Rose for something, but I don't remember what - it might have been for food or display or somesuch. Then I was in a shop with Martha & Ten was in the same shop & apparently, I had to protect Martha from the woman I'd encountered, because she was apparently an alien who kidnapped various lifeforms on planets she visited & shrunk them down to doll-size, only they didn't have the physiology of their species anymore, they were just dolls of living skin. After he told us this, he got so into looking at crystal swans that he completely ignored everything else. I said to him, "Doctor, when this is all over, I wanna sleep with you really badly," he kept ignoring me! Then Martha said something about us not having sex but meant that we were going to anyway. He STILL ignored us.

So somehow, we wound up in this dressing room with purple saloon-type doors & the alien woman was following us because she wanted Martha. She got up in my face & started GROWING SQUIGGLY EYES IN THE MIDDLE OF HER FACE. & I still had to protect Martha!

Insert STUFF I CAN'T RECALL. Then, there was a way to save Martha, but it involved a charm & being possessed a la Rose in The Parting of the Ways. So we let this huge Bigfoot-looking guy who was with us get possessed & it drove away the crazy alien woman & her posse, but then the Bigfoot-type guy was going to haunt us! (that's what he said), so Ten popped in & saved us. & there might have been kissing of the Betsy & Ten variety. Maybe. I don't remember. (SHOCKING.)

♥♥ My first dream makes me think of the Little!River fic snippet I still haven't posted.

♥♥ This article is at turns fascinating & mind-boggling. But I think some of the comments are really mean.

♥♥ I spent some time with [livejournal.com profile] yasolo today, & showed her David Tennant on YouTube. She thinks he's cute. (yay!) She also returned my SGA DVDs, but I'll have to lend them to her again sometime, because she didn't get to see all of season one.

♥♥ I may finally get to talk to [livejournal.com profile] lost_little_nat tonight! I've missed her so!

First off: [livejournal.com profile] monkeyman, I got your package! ::tackleglomps:: Thank you SO SO much for my lovely ornament & all of those lovely sweetheart candies! (I love them, I will not lie!) & I was quite enamored of the wrapping - you remembered my love for all things cherry print! I had to open it really carefully so I could save it, you know. But OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH! ::glomp::

Um. Folkies, loves, snugglebears & fangirls.

Guess who has a birthday coming up in . . . eight days?

Why yes, it's the Betsyshaped thing! Yes, my nineteenth birthday is coming up next month on the sixth. Meow, another year, another age, but teehee, I'm not so anxious about it anymore. Mostly because I'm getting a new phone that I'm really excited about, buuuuut . . . Whee, one year closer to being twenty! Gah, I'm so old.

But yes indeed! I can has birthday next month! ::bounces about::

O.my.god. you won't believe what I managed to make myself do today. I went up to Anubis Warpus to get a couple of zines, one of which I'm sending to [livejournal.com profile] monkeyman & one I've been wanting to read for a couple of weeks. Since I found out that they do sell zines, I've been wanting to ask how they take them, but I've been a little too shy/intimidated to do so. But when I was in there, a couple of guys came in & one of them was dropping off his zine. I hung around for a bit & then when I went to pay, I finally just asked how they took zines. Surprisingly, it was easier than I thought & I wound up giving the nice fellow behind the counter three copies of my second issue.

I'M BEING SOLD IN A REAL BRICK&MORTAR STORE HERE IN SAN FRANCISCO.

PEOPLE CAN ACTUALLY BUY MY ZINES IN A REAL SHOP.

I AM SO VERY PLEASED WITH MYSELF RIGHT NOW.

♥♥♥

Tonight's been a nice night. I washed my hair, painted my toesies up nicely & am about to straighten my hair out, all while watching Stargate SG-1. (yes, I'm studying Vala's hairstyles while drooling over her & Cameron. O, GOOD NIGHT. ::licks Vala & Cam:: DUDE, THAT ACCENT. ME.OW.)

& speaking of hair & Vala Mal Doran, this morning I was talking to my mummycat & we got on the topic of Amy Winehouse & her AWESOME hair. Now, i don't listen to Amy Winehouse (yet), but I've heard some of Back to Black on [livejournal.com profile] yasolo's iPod & I think her hair & tattoos are FUCKING AWESOME. So I asked Mother if she thought she could try giving me either Amy Winehouse or Aeryn Sun hair for my birthday. Then I brought up how similar I thought Amy Winehouse looked to Claudia Black & showed her a couple of pictures. She agreed!

(& in the same vein, I've always felt that Amanda Tapping looked a bit like Liz Phair, but that could totally just be me.)

Going to play with Vala!piggytails tomorrow - I kind of failed at them today. I blame my lack of visual aids, my hair in general & the timeframe I was working in. Also need to pay a visit to my stylist soon to get the bleached bits of my bangs chopped off.

Watching Bounty now & meeeeeep, I am so in love with this ep & Vala's hair in it! She's got PERFECT Gal hair, as agreed upon by both myself & [livejournal.com profile] lost_little_nat.

OMG I NEED SOME CAM/VALA NOW.

♥♥♥

Okay folks. Perfect Riverdress, am I right?

Yes it has no back. BUT. It's almost the exact colour of her Miranda dress & if I remember right, she DID wear a backless dress toward the end of Serenity. Hmm.

Okay, off to straighten my hair! ::flies away::
