riverdresses: (5-D • memories lost by time)
Well, everyone, here we are in the final official original three serials of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! Next week will be entirely devoted to the final serial of Two, Jamie & Zoe's - The War Games. I'll have it up on early Saturday morning, as usual, but I'll hopefully watching two serials a day, recapping each one in its own separate segment. (it's a ten-episode serial & it . . . it's not very pleasant. I mean, it has its moments, but if you know anything about Two's era, you'll know why I'm so uncomfortable with it.) After that, the rewatch-athon will be in its final stages, which will look something like this:

Next week: The War Games, picspam & mix postings.

Week after: Spearhead From Space, The Curse of Peladon & The Three Doctors. (the first two are sort of bonus stories; the first bridging the gap between Two & Three's eras, the second one starring Patrick's son David as King Peladon. & of course, The Three Doctors needs no explanation!)

Week after: The Five Doctors, The Two Doctors & Jamie's Companion Chronicle Helicon Prime.

Final week: Midnight & wrap-up party.

Note: I know most of you know that I've broken almost all ties with the new series (until Eleven arrives, anyway), but I'm including Midnight because it features David Troughton as one of the main characters - by including it, I'm coming full circle, as I see it. It's like this: if it hadn't been for the new series, I never would have came to the classic series & never would have found a) half of you lot & b) so many of my favourite serials & my three favourite Doctors. So, while I'd rather not sit through Midnight again, for David Troughton, I shall do it with pleasure.

I'll reiterate most of this next week with my recap of The War Games, but due to the nature of that story . . . coherence will be a bit of a fluke, if I can even pull it off by the end.

Anyway, that is next week, & it will all come in time, won't it? For now, we've three fabulous serials for this week, beginning with The Krotons, which was the second serial I ripped into after I watched The Dominators when I got them.

Also, interestingly enough, this serial combines everything I've been doing in the rewatch - serials, audios & .avi! If I had a recon we'd be all fitted out, wouldn't we? ::laughs::

The Krotons )

Now we're coming to a serial that I acquired especially for the rewatch-athon back when I was setting it all up - & couldn't believe I'd found it when I did! I've had it for a while now & this is the first time I've seen it! So my recap may be rather scattered, since I'll have so much to take in & to see & enjoy for the first time, but I'll try & be coherent still. But [livejournal.com profile] nentari's told me many lovely things about this story, so I'm really looking forward to seeing it & recapping it! I apologise for my scatterbrained ramblings in advance, folks!

The Seeds of Death )

& now, our final serial for the week, which combines the old favourite mixup of listening to the audio of, then watching the serial of The Space Pirates.

The Space Pirates - audio & serial )

& that was the last three major serials of this part of the great & mighty Troughton rewatch-athon! I'll be back next week with The War Games.

Wish me luck?

So, that giant, link-stuffed-like-a-Christmas-turkey Jamie spam I spoke of before? WELL HERE IT IS. & I do hope at least one person on my flist enjoys it other than me . . . but how could you not? It's Jamie!

This was going to be a Valentines' Day post, but damn, I didn't make it. Ah, what the hell - I don't need a reason to celebrate one of my favourite companions of all of Classic!Who, do I? Of course not! So I hope everyone enjoys it, I am a bit sorry for the massiveness of this post, but . . . I just really love Jamie! He doesn't get enough love in my opinion, so I'm giving him some. (& no, that isn't an innuendo for a change.)

♥♥ If you think this is dial-up friendly WHATSOEVER, then you are VERY wrong. ♥♥

Pictures are either my own caps, or from The Tragical History Tour. So basically, all snaggable.

I was finally properly tagged for this meme by [livejournal.com profile] velvet_midnight! (I know, I could have done it any time, but it made me feel kind of warm that someone tagged me proper. I'm silly, I know!)

Most of my New Year's Day was spent lying about in my pyjamas & watching Two & Seven serials, then trekking down to the bookshop in the late & very foggy afternoon, both of which were most delightful ways to spend the new year!

At home, whilst watching The Invasion, which I quite enjoyed, even if the animation gave me a bit of the twitches on occasion I somehow&suddenly a) came up with a rather cracky thought for a spot of Two/Jamie/Zoe smut (& I SWORE I'D NOT SHIP HER WITH EITHER OF THEM, ZOE IS TOO AWESOME FOR THEM.) & b) don't even know how I managed not to scream every ten seconds, 'JAMIE, YOU & TWO ARE SO MARRIED & IT IS TOO CUTE TO BE LEGAL.'

Two/Jamie subtext? Piffle&poppycock! Two/Jamie is TEXT! THIS IS NOT DEBATABLE. I may need to picspam them at some point. Silly yet tough bendy little men with sneaky charm & adorable eighteenth century (o, FUCK, I hope I got that right!) Scottish boys FTFW!

(& bugger, I realised I might indeed, finally have a tiny crush on Two. BUT THAT'S ONLY BECAUSE I'D TOTALLY BE WOULD BE JUST SLIGHTLY CHARMED BY HIS FUNNY LITTLE FACE & HIS BRILLIANCE & WIT, OKAY?)

Seven reminded me just a bit of Two in Survival. Not personality-wise, but in the clothes sense, I think. MORE funny little bendy men in equally funny clothes! But I loved Survival loads & ZOMG ACE! She is MADE of badassery & I WANT MORE.

(&.um.er. Is it wrong of me that I kiiiiind of found Sylvester McCoy really rather handsome? I completely did. & like Peter Davison, he still looks gorgeous now!)

Ah, I missed the Master. ::ignores the fact that she just saw him in Logopolis:: Though he reminded me very much of a vampire in this story, but Ainley!Master has a tendency to do that. Sort of look like how I sort of imagined Bram Stoker's Dracula to look when he arrived in London. (& black velvet! Sigh! Legendary, yes.)

(this has nothing to do with the fact that I think Eight would make a nice vampire, mind you. ::hides face:: But he would, yes? All that velvet & those curls & that sensuous, soft voice of his . . . well, okay, I think he would. But he'd be a real vampire, none of this saddled-with-a-soul, non-blood drinking, no-fanged, glittery silliness! Think Zagreus, but Eight fully in control & enjoying it. & if you had any idea how fucking hard I am trying to not write that, you'd be amazed at my willpower. Someone alert me when there's another multifandom or Who-centric cliche fic challenge? THEN I'll write it.)

& incidentally, I would have been eight months old when that episode aired. Eight months. A little over the half a year mark. One higher than a number I hold a bit close to my heart. The designation of my second Doctor.

Sometimes, even though it may not seem like it, my life revolves around certain numbers or certain groupings of numbers.

It's very odd. My life is all about words, but sometimes, numbers slip under the doors when I don't realise it.

I feel like writing random, nonsensical verse-ficlet of the Two/Jamie variety & I will, actually, as soon as I get this out of my Semagic & get some cherry Coke.

I cannot have Two & Jamie living in my head. Not with Eight & Sarah! O, THE HAVOC. & POSSIBLY THE FIC. & Eight & Two are so going to fight over music. I know this.
